Embodying Shakti: Lakshmi Day Retreat

The Yoga Garden (Lafayette, Louisiana, USA)
Sunday, March 5, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

IMAGINE A STUNNING WOMAN in a flowing red sari, surrounded by elephants and lotus flowers, gold coins flowing from her fingers to shower the earth: this is Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of abundance, fertility, love, and beauty. More than simply a consort to Vishnu, Lakshmi is one of the many faces of Shakti, the great feminine energy that exists both within and without our bodies and compels the soul toward evolution.

As the floating lotus is deeply rooted in the earth, so too is Lakshmi rooted in the potency of life. In this one-day retreat, we’ll explore her forms as Maha Lakshmi, Sita, and Radha to see what she may teach us about the verdant gifts of the heart: how to savor the taste of life, extend love outward from our ever-flowing inner well of plenty, and find power in receptivity.

During our time together, you’ll tap into Lakshmi’s energy to enrich your life and yoga practice through a dynamic, creative blend of storytelling, asanas and visual meditation. By embodying these energies in both the physical (asana) and metaphysical (meditative) realms, you’ll begin to recognize the Shakti energy moving through and around you every day, as well as start building a practice that uplifts you toward true spiritual abundance.

Tickets available online via The Yoga Garden.

Embodying Shakti: Parvati Workshop Series

Yoga Yoga (Austin, Texas, USA)
Thursday Evenings, April 6-27, 7:30 pm to  9:30 pm

THE HINDU GODDESS PARVATI is the epitome of Tantra: the entanglement of spirit and body, the sacred in the mundane, the priestess as householder. More than simply a consort to Shiva, Parvati is one of the many faces of Shakti, the great feminine energy that exists both within and without our bodies to compel the soul toward evolution.

Born as the Daughter of the Himalayas, Parvati’s name means “Majestic Mountain.” This is a goddess with literal backbone! In our four week special series, we’ll explore Parvati’s forms as Sati/Uma, the Mother of Ganesha, Lalita Tripura Sundari, and Durga to see what she may teach us about the secrets of Sri Vidya: how to channel our innate regenerative powers, tame the untamable, and merge with the Infinite without losing our individuality.

During the course of this series, you’ll tap into Parvati’s energy to enrich your life and yoga practice through a dynamic, creative blend of storytelling, asana and visual meditation. By embodying these energies in both the physical (asana) and metaphysical (meditative) realms, you’ll begin to recognize the Shakti energy moving through and around you every day, as well as start building a vibrant home practice. All genders welcome!

Tickets available online via Yoga Yoga.
